Japan Polychem Group Statement of Environmental Activities
We will contribute to the future of the Earth by polyethylene and polypropylene.
Polyethylene
Polypropylene
Polyethylene and polypropylene are indispensable materials that support people's daily lives, used in various supply chains.
Future Earth
For the future of the Earth, we will actively respond to various moves such as Circular Economy for sustainable growth and GHG emission reduction for carbon neutrality.
Contribution
We will provide superior value to our customers through research and development, manufacturing, and sales of polyethylene and polypropylene products to be loved and trusted, and to be our customer’s best partner in developing each other’s business.
Circular Economy Initiatives
We will contribute to reducing environmental impact through 3R (Reduce, Recycle, Reuse) initiatives and the development of PE and PP that are friendly both to the people and the environment.
Carbon Neutral Initiatives
We will work together with our parent company to reduce CO2 emissions by making raw material sources more sustainable, including the introduction of mass balance methods, etc.
Building Mutual Trust
Looking over through the entire supply chain, we will provide superior value to our customers through the development, production, and sales of PE and PP, our base materials, and build further trust.
Toward carbon neutralization of PP
Japan Polypropylene Corporation will consider manufacturing and marketing more environmentally low-impact PP products using a raw material (propylene) that is expected to reduce GHG (Scope 3) in order to realize a sustainable, recycling-oriented society.
Oil conversion of waste plastics (chemical recycling)* Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation
and ENEOS Corporation plan to commercialize this business.
We will consider manufacturing and selling chemical-recycled PP using chemical-recycled propylene (mass balance method) obtained by the oil conversion technology of waste plastics.
We will contribute to the realization of circular economy by building a closed loop with our customers.
Study on the commercialization of olefins using plant-derived raw materials*Commercialization is under study by Mitsubishi Chemical.
To make a wide range of products more sustainable, including containers and packaging, medical and hygiene products, and other items that are generally difficult to recover and recycle, we will consider the production and sale of bio-PP using plant-derived propylene.
“Acquisition of ISCC PLUS Certification”
We are pleased to announce that our Kashima Plant has acquired ISCC PLUS Certification, one of the international third-party certifications for sustainable products.
In accordance with the mass balance method based on this certification system, we will start manufacturing and sales of chemical recycled products using raw materials obtained from the oilification of waste plastic in fiscal 2024.
In addition, we will gradually acquire this certification at our Mizushima Plant and Goi Plant.
Japan Polypropylene Corporation commits and declares its compliance with the requirements for ISCC PLUS certification in accordance with the latest ISCC regulations.
